The Town
A postcard-pretty river town built on top of a pink-crystal wound that has been waiting sixty thousand years to wake up.

Sixty thousand years before the first church bell rang over Central Alabama, something fell out of the sky. It did not die. The meteor that carved the great crater outside the river town of StarFell carried a core of pink crystal — a thing that sleeps, converts, and waits.
For generations the town grew up around the wound in the earth: a postcard-pretty main street, a concrete bridge over the Coosa-like river, eggs at Franks' Grocery, sermons on Sunday. October 20, 1962 is "the most perfect of Saturday mornings."
It is also Day One.
Sixty thousand years of patience. One perfect Saturday morning. Watch what falls.
